The exterior of Hazel's house is now finished, and the paper mache is drying.
There's only one problem – I hate the roof.
The original plan was to have a roof garden, but to put it simply, I have cats.
(A smorgasbord of delectable plastic plants would be irresistible to my beasts.)

The old roof from Dr Zoe's house has been sitting in my office, and I wondered if it would fit this house. So I tried it.
Here it is from the front,

the back,

and the side - perfect!

Inside you can see that there is a gap at the back, but that can easily be filled in with scrap wood.

I think Fairy Hazel should be happy with the new roof. It will give her some extra storage too!
Cheerio,
Sam

DeleteI think it's Kismet, and you'll make it look like it was part of the plan all along! You're really making progress now!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodi. I was actually surprised that it fit.

Thanks Giac.
Deleteit looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa.
DeleteIt's sad somehow that you had to give up your roof garden plans... but your plan B works great too. What a fantastic coincidence that the old roof makes such a great job.

Hi Birgit, yes, it was sad to give up on the roof garden idea but I will keep it for a future doll house that will be kept away from the cats. I am sure I will build a million houses in my lifetime.
DeleteGreat addition Sam! That roof gives the house a lot of style and I love the idea of and attic room, you can really do something with that.
ReplyDeleteKeep it going, I can't wait to see how you finish this one. :)
Big hugs,
X
Hi Xanadu, thanks. I am actually glad to use the roof on a house. It has been just sitting in my office taking up space!
