Cats Play With Lego Blocks Too!

Hi everyone,
This is just a shameless plug of cute cat pictures that were taken a few years ago.

My kids had been playing with Legos and toy animals while Nova and Kovu watched.

Apple Blossom - Part Three

Hi everyone,
I attached the extension and I covered the house in the first layer of paper mache.
Yes, this is the embarrassing stage. It looks like a kindergarten project - not something a grown up would make.
I do have a rough vision of what this should look like one day.

This house will now sit up above my desk for a few weeks to make sure it is completely dry before I add anymore layers.

I think I will make a back for this dollhouse. The new windows are rather large and you can see too much background. Anyway, it will help keep out dust (and inquisitive little kitty cats!).
Speaking of whom, here is a quick pic of my boys.

Guardian of the Alison Jr Box

I was looking for the box that contained the Alison Jr dollhouse. I asked one of my building inspectors, Mr Kovu, where it was and he told me that it was under the desk.

When I looked under the desk I found Mr Nova and I asked him, "Do you know where the box is for the new dollhouse kit?"
"No," he replied in a sleepy voice.

As he lay down for a long nap, the blanket moved and I found what I was looking for.

He closed his eyes and I did not have the heart to wake him. Sometimes just being cute allows you to get away with anything.

Early morning - Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! I was enjoying the peace and tranquillity when. . .

Mr Nova joined me and wanted to offer a few tips.

Just relax and take it easy.

Take time to smell the flowers.

And don't forget to snuggle up with those you love!

Have a great day!

Christmas From A Cat's Perspective

Hi everyone - Mr Nova here.
Every year when the weather turns colder, the humans begin to act very weird.
It must have something to do with the furnace being turned on.
They try to dress Kovu and I in a hideous white beard and red hat.
Do humans understand that cats do NOT wear clothing? We have our dignity to preserve.
The other strange thing is they begin to set up a fake tree in the great room right next to the fireplace. They then adorn it with sparkly, glittery CAT toys that we are NOT allowed to touch.
Humans can be so mean-spirited sometimes.
Underneath this tree they place a velvet cat blanket. We can only enjoy it for a short while before they start covering it up with objects wrapped in colorful paper. Kovu and I cannot fathom why they set this all up without leaving any room for us to sleep.
If we try to see what is inside the packages, the humans just growl at us. Why put pretty bows on top if we are not allowed to play with them?
A few days later they just rip all the paper off anyway. We could have helped them with this process.
Kovu and I just sit in the pile of paper and shake our heads.
At least we are allowed to play with this paper for a while.
And don't get me started as to why they decorate the trees outside. Total lunacy.
Can't they see that it is snowing? and cold? and pointless?
Humans!!!!! We cannot understand them, but cannot live without them either!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Kinsey's House Quandary

Builder Sam here.
Remember Kinsey's house?

I was moving it to Willow Ridge when I hit a rather large snag. Or a small one - depends on how you look at it.
Kinsey's house is 32 inches long. The doorway to the basement is only 30 inches.
Mr Kovu suggested turning the house sideways, but it was still too wide.
It seemed hopeless. No matter which way we turned it, it just simply was not going to fit.

I told Kinsey that her house was not going to make it to Willow Ridge. Kinsey was adamant that she wanted to be in Willow Ridge and that I HAD to make it happen.
I studied the house for a while.  With my hammer and chisel, I managed to pry the roof off.
That was the answer!
Without the roof and tower attached, the body of the house is just under 30 inches.

Bit of a tight squeeze, but it fit through the doorway. Yay! Kinsey will be happy - I think. The roof will be reattached but will be removable for moving purposes.

Now I just need to finish it.

Builder Sam Update

Hi everyone. There have been many changes around here, hence the move to a new blog.
Willow Ridge has now been set up in the basement. This area is for the Elven community to live safely away from the cats, Nova and Kovu.

The cats are wonderful beasts, but when the sun goes down and under the cover of darkness, their animal instincts kick in. They love to chew on dollhouses and cause mischief.

Of course, Mr Nova is not thrilled with the dollhouses moving, nor is he happy with me telling you his faults. Here is a picture of my grumpy cat. I told him that his day job of inspecting the houses will remain in effect but he is still not satisfied.

You may remember from the old blog that I initially tried to integrate the Barbie community with the dollhouses, but it was too hard to access everything and so changes had to be made.

Barbie Land was relocated and so were the hideous plastic shelves. Nine wooden tables took their place. Larger houses will go on top and the smaller houses will go underneath.

Now it is time to let Kinsey be an active realtor selling properties. As for Isabelle, she will be back one day I am fairly sure. She is still traveling with the Doctor and will be fine. (Most of his companions come home safely although somewhat changed. Hopefully for the better.)
That's all for now.
