Eviction and Elation

Kinsey heard the familiar sound of the postman dropping mail into the mailbox. She peeked furtively from the second story window, checking that there were no neighbors out and about.
(Even though it was late Saturday afternoon, Kinsey was still in her pajamas.)

Seeing that the coast was clear, Kinsey went to get the mail.

There was a large yellow envelope addressed to both Kinsey and Isabelle. It was from their landlord. "Uh-oh," thought Kinsey. She immediately opened it up and read it.

It was not good news. Rather shocked, Kinsey sat down to re-read the letter.

It was from Ernie the landlord, giving her and Isabelle a thirty day notice to vacate the house.
It turns out that Ernie's wife Blanche has fallen gravely ill, and they need to return home. Ernie said that he is very sorry and that he feels terrible about evicting such great tenants.
Kinsey thought about it for a long time. Poor Blanche.

Kinsey was not sure what she was going to do, as her own house was not yet ready to be moved into. Suddenly the irony of a "Homeless Realtor" struck Kinsey as funny, and she let out a chuckle.
"Time to move, I think," said Kinsey. She was still deep in thought as she distractedly picked up the rest of the mail. Suddenly Kinsey recognized the handwriting of her sister Kitty on an envelope. She became excited and dropped the rest of the mail to read it.

Kinsey beamed with pleasure when Kitty's letter said that she was coming to visit. "That would be right," said Kinsey out loud. "The moment I become homeless, my family shows up."

Kinsey headed back inside to begin packing, quite forgetting that she had been outside in her pajamas.

Cheerio,
Sam

  1. Poor Kinsey. We've all had this kind of day. Surely she will soon realize that a very powerful being has her best interests at heart, and soon she will be in an even more perfect life situation. Hopefully, her faith and past experiences will comfort her until all is revealed! :o)

    1. Hi Jodi, well said. Kinsey is usually pretty upbeat so I doubt this will get her down.

  2. Kinsey shouldn't worry about the neighbors seeing her in her p.j's because they look so cute on her that she could probably wear them to the grocery store and no one would bat an eye.
Sometimes my poor neighbors get to see me wearing a wooly, over-sized red plaid housecoat when I sneak outside in the morning and if they can live through the sight of THAT, then pretty little Kinsey has nothing to worry about.

p.s. Relatives can often show up at the most inconvenient times but I do believe that the arrival of Kinsey's sister in the wake of an eviction, contains more than what currently meets the eye. ;D

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. Yes, I wish my pj's were as cute as Kinseys. I had to laugh about your red plaid housecoat! I guess I am quite a sight too whenever I put the trash out wearing my paint covered sweatpants and old raggedy shirts!

  3. Kinsey does not seem all that upset by the impending eviction. She is a good enough person to be thinking about poor Blanche! Perhaps she can move in with one of her friends until her own place is done. I have had to that before!

    1. Hi Phyllis. Yes, Kinsey has learned to stay calm no matter what happens. (She might just have to move in with a friend if I cannot get her house finished in time!)

  4. Hello Sam,
I am sure all will work out for the best in the end. I do hope her house will be ready soon...or at least a room or 2 so she can move in.

    1. Thanks Giac. I really want Kinsey's house to be ready soon, but I have found out that I work rather slowly. At least she is being a good sport about it!

  5. That's bad news... poor Kinsey, this will mean a lot of work and stress for her. But I too suppose that all will be well in the end and like Giac already suggested, maybe she can make a bit of space in her new home ready to live in for a while. And there's no need to worry about her wearing pj's in the public... she looks very pretty in them.

    Hugs

  6. Oh Sam that was such a sweet story and Kinsey looked so cute in her PJ's. I love how you manage to capture her expressions so well, it's great photography. :)

I'm sure Kinsey's house will be finished in time for her to move into, we couldn't possibly have a homeless realtor, that wouldn't be good for her business at all.
    Hugs,
    X

    1. Thanks Xanadu. I also think that Kinsey photographs well. (I just love her sculpt!)
I really have to get moving on Kinsey's house but I am working very slowly at the moment. Yes, a homeless realtor is terrible advertising!
